The size of the explanatory figure screen shots is too small to be legible and the colors chosen for much of the text is difficult to read, especially in classrooms where the lights are dimmed to use projection screens.

In addition the text is to heavy to lug from home to the classroom. I took another Microsoft office class with a different book and it did not give me the detail that this book as given, for example I did not learn how to enter data into an Excel sheet. There were no assignments in which one entered data into the worksheet we just modified excel workbooks that we downloaded.

This book shows one how to enter data. Great book. Really straight forward. This book gives literal step by step instructions on how to create important documents. For those of us with proficient use of the computer, it’s kinda slow and unnecessary.

But for those lost in technology, this is the book to get. You CAN’T not get it, because it literally tells you what to do one step at a time, including something as simple as How to Save a File.

My mom needs this book lol. This is an excellent text, with step by step instructions for creating and editing Microsoft Office applications. I even learned how accountants work out taxes for people of differing income levels. With the vivid photographs and the explanations about the use and benefits of certain applications, you shouldn’t have any difficulty in whichever class you’re using it in. See all reviews. Microsoft Office Introductory Shelly Cashman I purchased this book new for a college class my son had to take. It is exactly what the professor wanted and was a lot cheaper then the book store. My son said the book is easy to follow but he basically knows everything that is being taught.

The problems arise when a brand new user does not get the exact same look as shown in the step by step. I have yet to find a textbook that can substitute for a real live teacher walking you through your glitches using your own computer. Learned a few things but wow does it take a looooong time to do these.

The quizzes and practices get very repetitive, especially towards the end in Powerpoint. Easy class for me. Probably spent 3 – 4 hours a week on the projects for IT online.
